A word from the manager
When we started AFC Warszawa back in 2022, we set ourselves the modest goal of keeping the team going for the season, putting out eleven players every week, making sure all the subs got a game, and seeing where we could finish in a league which was very much a step into the unknown.
After finishing third in our fourth season, we can happily say that the on-pitch performances and the club itself has continued to grow and improve year-on-year. Our final positions of 7th, 5th, 4th, and 3rd shows progress on the pitch; off the pitch there are also some exciting developments which will again push the club in a positive direction, even if it means a few changes…more on that below!
As well as our highest ever league position in Klasa B, we also set new records for ourselves in 26/27 - scoring 94 goals, and conceding just 24 goals in 26 games.
However, although the progress is evident, we’re also frustrated - for the last two seasons we’ve finished one or two wins away from promotion to Klasa A. After exactly 100 games played though, we can look back with a bit of pride and satisfaction at our journey, and look forward to more growth and success.
The summer break in Klasa B is only eight or nine weeks long, and we will continue to train throughout the summer in preparation for the new season, which begins on the weekend of August 22-23. We have already had a number of trialists and new players joining us for training at the end of June, and they will continue trying to impress throughout July. Safe to say things will look a lot different for us come August, but we’re excited for everything that lies ahead.
Once again, thank you to our supporters for deciding to support the club. We are looking forward to growing and expanding the membership offering in 26/27 - please read below for full details of what comes next for AFC! Exciting times ahead…

Only two games in June, and as always seems to be the case, The Knaves travelled to play away at Przyszłość Włochy on a hot, sunny day. Their grass pitch makes a change from the artificial pitches we tend to play most games on, and although a good surface, the weather made it a little dry and bumpy in places - but that was not enough to knock the boys off their stride.
This was a commanding performance from us. From the first whistle the energy in midfield was superb, with Real, Tanner, Delophont, and Sauvard closing down and winning the ball back all over the pitch. The back four barely gave their forwards a kick, and the forwards created numerous chances in both halves. Given the frustrations of recent weeks, the players deserve full credit for maintaining their focus on getting better and building for next season.
Puerini showed off his finishing skills with a great turn and shot across the GK, an expertly taken volley, and the composure to finish a loose ball in the box to complete a memorable hat-trick. Captain Corentin ‘Coco’ Razes got the second goal of the game after knocking home a knock down from one of Khaled’s numerous corners in the first half.
The Knaves made seven substitutions either side of the hour mark, and although the game opened up a bit, the substitutes picked up where the starters left off with a dominant performance, and the result was never in doubt. Seb Pott made his second appearance from the bench after his return from a lengthy injury lay-off.
Polish shot-stopper Konrad Jaworski played only his second match of the season, and he’s proving to be something of a lucky charm. He played between the posts in our 4-0 win away at SEMP II Ursynow early in the season, and kept another clean sheet in another 4-0 away win today.

The final game of The Knaves' 25/26 season was also our one hundredth game. We had hoped to be celebrating promotion on this milestone too, but another season in Klasa B beckons. However, the future looks bright...
We played the game at what will be our new home pitch in the Praga District of Warsaw, at 44 Kawẹczynska Street. The facility has recently been refurbished, and has been the home of AKS Zły, our new partners, for over a decade now. The boys enjoyed the run out on a new pitch, and there were plenty of goals to celebrate at our new home.
Our opponents for this game were RKS II Okẹcie, who had held us to a 1-1 draw back in November.
The Knaves flew out of the blocks, creating chance after chance in the opening 10 minutes, but without opening the scoring. With Okẹcie almost nicking a goal on the break, we were hoping we would not be left rueing those missed chances.
However, once we got the first goal after 12 minutes through Jan Błoński, his first goal for the club, there was no looking back. A further two goals from Alessandro Puerini, and another for Błoński made it four, before a strike from range by Clement Sauvard made it 5-1 before half-time. We have been experimenting with playing two strikers in recent weeks, and the partnership that is developing between Błoński and Puerini is showing real signs of promise. Puerini finished the season as our top goalscorer, netting 27 times in his debut season for the club and finishing joint second in the league’s top scorer charts.
An early second half goal for Okẹcie put us on the back foot for a moment, but after making seven subs on 55’, The Knaves finished the game as a contest with goals from Seb Pott on 60’, and a goal for Gunnar Vade Sodal on 80’. It was a fitting way for Sodal to say goodbye - he is returning to Norway in the summer, and his pace and directness in attack will be missed. There was still time for a late consolation goal for Okẹcie to make the score 7-3 in a game that had a real end-of-season feel to it.

Those with a keen eye in recent weeks may have noticed some subtle references to upcoming changes for the following season. With AFC having just completed their 4th season playing in Klasa B, they missed out narrowly on promotion again, despite an all time best finish of 3rd place. As the manger alluded to above, each season has seen an improvement in the final placings but promotion has remained out of reach….
The day-to-day and week-to-week running of the club has always brought challenges, even more so for a non-Polish administrative team. Finding a full pitch to train on, re-arranging matches, adhering to new rules set by the governing body, changing legal stipulations and general admin of organising a football club has over time become very difficult to maintain. AFC Warszawa have for some time now been trying to source assistance in this area. Whilst the on-pitch side of the club has got stronger, the work in behind the scenes has been an issue for some time.
With this in mind AFC reached out to AKS Zły, a well known and established team in Warsaw. Created 10 years ago as an alternative club their results had started to wane over the last few years to the extent that this season's relegation from Klasa A was almost a certainty even before the winter break. From having once attracted almost 1,000 spectators for a match against FC United of Manchester in the Fenix Cup - a european competition for amateur teams - to having a club beer readily available on sale in Warsaw bars and having a documentary made about them, they were now looking for help on the pitch…could there be a better relationship waiting to happen!!?
AKS Zly also have a well-established women’s team playing in the third tier of Polish football and a new, growing, football academy for young boys and girls. The merger will not only strengthen the men’s team, but also the club as a whole.
Currently we are going through the legal process of merging the clubs, and for the 2026/27 season, we will have one, new team made up from both sets of players, staff, and fans. It’s going to be a busy month - a new team name, kit and club crest have all to be decided upon - but we feel this is an exciting move for the future of the two clubs. Both of our clubs hold the same ethics and values - that of inclusivity and anti-discrimination in all forms.
Bringing the two clubs together will help us to grow our following off the pitch. AKS Zly are a member-owned, democratic club, and together with our members, the plan is to bring you all along for the ride!
The details of the membership are yet to be fully ironed out - but needless to say we would be extremely thankful if you were to stay with us for next season to support the new partnership.
