Sorry for the delay in getting this January newsletter out to you - we’ve made a note to ourselves to be better prepared ahead of the winter break next year!! As an international team, many of us disappear for a few weeks over the holidays, and things ground to a halt a little here, but we’re back up and running, and looking forward to the next few months!
As mentioned in the last newsletter, winter is a very quiet time in the lower reaches of Polish football. No packed, festive schedule of games every two or three days for us, just a long, cold wait until the spring season starts. Given temperatures have been hitting -15 in the Warsaw area, that’s probably no bad thing!
In December we had a few players down on trial at our training sessions on Wednesday evenings. We think one or two will be joining us on a more permanent basis, but more news about that once any final decisions have been made, and paperwork has been signed. Given we’re playing in the wider Polish pyramid, we’re subject to the same FIFA international transfer rules as every other club, professional or otherwise. That means paperwork has to be sent off to a player’s ‘home’ football association, and then we wait for approval. Some national associations seem to be more efficient than others with this, and international transfers can take anywhere between one week and a couple of months to be verified.
We have had a few weeks off training, and plan to return on Sunday 25th January, and we’re in the process of trying to finalise a few friendly matches to get the lads in good shape ahead of the spring round. We’ll hopefully be able to share more information about that next month, and maybe get one or two live streams to you before the start of the real action, with our first game scheduled for the weekend of March 21st/22nd.
As we haven’t been playing games recently, we thought we’d have a bit of fun with the video offering this month. Below you’ll see a little crossbar challenge video which is worth watching until the end (sorry Piotr!). There’s also a short message from the boys - I have no idea what some of them are saying either….
Discussions behind the scenes are ongoing about how we can improve what we do off the pitch, as well as what we can do to help ourselves on the pitch. 2026 looks set to be another year of progress for AFC Warszawa, and we can’t wait to bring you more news about our future plans in the coming months.

League Table and statistics
It has been an exciting first half to the season with eventful games and moments. The following statistics provide an overview of the club’s performance throughout these games. Together, these figures help illustrate how the team performed and highlight key trends that defined the campaign.
Goals scored: AFC have scored an impressive 50 goals in the 13 games played at an average of 3.8 goals per game with only 2 teams scoring more goals.
A goal coming into the season was to be the fittest team in the league and the goal record reflects the ability to capitalize on tiring teams with 20 goals scored in the first half of games and 30 in the 2nd.
Goal scorers: Alessandro Puerini joined this season and has left his mark, scoring 12 of AFC’s 50 goals so far. Our success so far wouldn’t be possible without the goals of Clement Sauvard (8), Patrick Tanner (5) and Bartek Danilczuk, Sebastian Pott and Corentin Razes with 4 each as well as all the others who chipped in with important goals.
Goals conceded: With only 8 goals conceded in 13 games, AFC demonstrated how strong their defense has been functioning. In fact, 8 conceded is equal to league leaders KS Ursus.
These goals were also shared among the halves, with 4 goals coming against us in the first half, and 4 in the second half of games.
Discipline: AFC had an impressive disciplinary record and ended the first half of the season as the 4th best behaved team with just 18 yellows (the lowest ranked team had 34 yellows and 3 reds!).
Hugo was the most regular yellow card recipient with 3, while Clement Sauvard, Alessandro Puerini, Corentin Razes, Simon Real and Michal Mucha all received 2.
Goalkeepers: This season AFC’s goal has been well tended by four strong goalkeepers who have helped us win points in the games they have been involved in. Johannes Kretschmer and Igor Wolonski played 6 times each with Tarn Willers and Konrad Jaworski playing once each when needed.
Game management: The coaching staff have used the players intelligently this season making changes in order to go and win and control games. Players have come off when needed and those coming on have helped finish games successfully.

Uczniowski Klub Sportowy FC Komorów (FC Komorów Student Sports Club) are a club based just outside the Warsaw boundaries and along with Nowa Wies, who share the same pitch, provide AFC with their furthest trip of the 2025/26 season. Having been relegated from Klasa A last season they will certainly be around the promotion places come the end of the season.
The club was established in 2011 on the initiative of parents of children who attended football classes at Maria Dąbrowska Primary School in Komorów. After initial training sessions they gradually spread beyond the school grounds and teams began to take part in tournaments organised by the Masovian Football Association.
Today the club provides children, youths and adults with opportunities for playing football and as well as the senior team they have 8 youth teams and a football kindergarten.
