AFC Warszawa - AUGUST
A New Start…
As you are well aware by now AFC Warszawa - at least in name are no more. The club has now officially merged with AKS Zły Praga and 'we' are now (and from our next newsletter) working under the team name of AFC Zły Praga. The photos below show what Zły once created and were hoping to bring the good times back…
With a 'new' home pitch which is situated more centrally in Warsaw we are hoping the match day experience will be enhanced for supporters. We also have a few additional ideas to create a fantastic atmosphere and to improve the 'live' streaming service. Whilst the club crest is still to be designed and added to a new playing kit it's very much all systems go after a good July on the training pitch and the introduction of some trialists.

In June AFC Warszawa played their final match. After competing in Poland’s Klasa B for four seasons we have continued to become stronger on the pitch in every subsequent season and achieved a higher placed final position. With the level becoming stronger each year and reserve and academy teams from much higher placed clubs participating more frequently it has been a satisfactory rise.
However, as you may have read last month AFC Warszawa are now merging with AKS Zły, another club in Warsaw and a new beginning beckons. The main changes will be off the pitch with Jan Dziubecki, the current president of AKS, already working hard behind the scenes to implement the legal and administrative requirements. Work on a new club crest and finalising the club’s name are also near to completion. It’s fantastic news that Neil Riley will continue as head coach of the team and we expect many of the players from last season to make up the new squad which will be announced early in August.
This is our time to ask you as members to continue your support. It has been invaluable over the past year and has ensured that we have been able to live stream our matches and cover all necessary costs which are rising year after year. How you can Help!
Your support last season has been an enormous factor in the club still running and expanding with the likes of streaming 'live' games. As we all know the cost of almost everything is rising and that includes running a football club. Pitch hire, match officials and club licenses have all risen in the last 12 months. So what can you do???
Signing up for another season would be fantastic! The monthly newsletter with competitions will still be provided to all members which gives you a chance to really get to know The Knaves. And with the season ahead and all the changes it should be interesting…

A New Season Beckons….
Although as detailed above there are still a few aspects to be finalised before next season regarding the joining of AFC and AKS Zły the league table for our ‘new’ team has been published. Currently for administration purposes we are playing under the name Zły Praga Warszawa.
Although only meeting two of last year’s opponents - Amigos Warszawa and Unia II - there are a few other familiar faces there too….
PRO Warszawa were in AFC’s division in our first ever season. They gained promotion in that season and followed up with another promotion from Klasa A the following year. Further promotions were achieved and they subsequently sold the rights to the team and have now started again. We expect them once again be strong.
Sparta Marki were in AFC’s division in the first 3 seasons and we have also played league matches against Marymont. SEMP II were opponents last season and have been replaced by their 3rd team.
Jedność and Warszawiak, the latter who we train next to on Wednesdays, were opponents in past friendlies and Pahonia, who have a majority of players from Belarus, we met in two previous friendlies.
With us now having a new venue for ‘home’ matches, we’ll be making the trip back to our old venue at Hutnik to Hutnik for quite a few ‘away’ games next season. A trip to Krubin, to the north of Warszawa, looks like being The Knaves’ furthest game.
